View a chart Access historical time series of a price in a table

View a chart

Use the 5* Chart widget to view a chart. Access this tool through the Content Finder, in the Charting tools and add a 5* Charts to your existing screen.

Search for the prices you want to view in the chart, for example LME Copper Officials, or CME Aluminium M1 bid history etc. Depending on the instrument, Fastmarkets carries far dated history.

Use the 5* Chart toolbar to navigate around the chart.  There are over 20 different types of trend lines that you can add to a chart, as well as the ability to annotate the chart. You can also add shape icons to your chart

There are over 100 technical analysis that you can overlay to your chart, including simple moving average, Relative Strength Index (RSI) and Stochastics

 

Additional functions on the 5* Chart toolbar that include the ability to add a cross hairs cursor and the ability to expand and contract the chart to the full screen.

There are also functions on the toolbar that allow you to add volume, print the chart, or change the background of your chart from black to white, blue or grey.

There is a right click menu on a chart which gives you access further charting toolbars:

  • Instrument view is accessible when you right click over the bars and it allows you to change the view of the labels and scale. For example change to percentage.
  • Chart Options right click menu is accessible when you right click over the black part of the chart. It allows you to show or hide the X axis, reset your chart, or remove all objects you placed on the chart, eg a trend line or a symbol.

The fields available in the 5* Charts are as follows :

  • Comex - the field used is Last Trade in the chart. To see Settlement prices, please use the Historic Data part.
  • LME - the field used depends on instrument - Cash=Bid, 3M=Last, Official=Ask, C-3=Bid
  • SHFE - the field used is Last Trade. To see Settlement prices, please use the Historic Data part.

 

Access historical time series of a price in a table

Use the Historic Data widget to view history in a table. Access this tool through the Content Finder, in the Data tools and Calculators and add a Historic Data widget to your existing screen.

Search the Instrument Catalogue by keyword (eg Copper Official) or you can search via

  • OHLC – this folder gives you access to aggregated price history, eg LME 3M Select or CME Aluminium Open, High, Low, Close historical pricing
  • Historic Data – this folder gives you access to source published data eg LME 3M Officials or CME Aluminium historical Settlements.

Depending on the data set you select, data will be available intraday, daily, weekly, or monthly.

 

OHLC Folder

Search for aggregated price history using the OHLC folder. Here is an example for the last 30 days of LME Copper Cash prices. Select the relevant contract, how many days history or a date range and the frequency of the data, then select Get Data button. The data in this table will update each day as its set to 30 days rolling history. You can export the data into Excel.

Historic Data Folder

Search for exchange published data from this folder. Here is an example of LME Official prices for the last 90 days. Select the relevant contract, how many days history or a date range then select Get Data button. The data in this table will update each day as its set to 90 days rolling history. You can export the data into Excel.
