What are the mill/machine/grade/product capacities based on?
Fastmarkets uses nominal capacity* or "design" capacity per machine (paper machine, pulp line, etc). In most cases, annual capacity is the typical way of company and/or supplier reporting. These annual values are divided by 357 days to obtain a daily capacity for the purpose of Fastmarkets' mass and energy balances. In some instances, Fastmarkets obtains a reference for daily capacity for a machine, which is then multiplied with 357 days to show annual capacities. Annual numbers include estimated annual maintenance downtime but does not consider market related downtime.
*Nominal capacity refers to the advertised or specified capacity, representing its maximum output. Also called installed capacity or design capacity.
