How to highlight and label mills or companies
Highlighting and labeling allow you to visually distinguish specific mills, machines, companies, or saved groups within cost curves and other market reports. This makes it easier to scan charts, compare positions, and quickly locate assets of interest.
Note: Highlighting is supported on all Market Reports except Overview and Regional Unit Cost.
1. Highlight from the Mill List (Before the Cost Curves)
- Go to the Mill List section that appears before the graph.
- Find the mill you want to highlight.
- Click the down arrow on the Actions button.
- Select Highlight.
This immediately a highlight in color to the selected mill(s).

2. Click a Company Name in a Chart
On any bar chart containing company labels:
- Click the company name below the chart.
- A vertical label will be applied to all mills belonging to that company.
This is a fast way to label all assets owned by a company at once.

3. Use the HIGHLIGHT / LABEL Menu
On any report page:
- Locate the HIGHLIGHT / LABEL box.
- Click the + icon to open additional options.
You will see multiple ways to highlight or label:
A. Highlight Saved Mill Groups / Label Saved Mill Groups
- Lets you apply the color or label for any of your Saved Mill Groups.
- A dropdown appears so you can select the group.
- Only mills that are part of the current custom market will appear.
- Group colors are defined on the Saved Mill Groups page (see guidance on the Fastmarkets Support platform).
B. Select Company / Select Mill
- Highlights (and optionally labels) a specific mill or all mills of a selected company.
- Highlight color also applies to the corresponding rows in the Data Report.

C. Label
- Adds a vertical label showing:
- Mill name or
- Machine number (depending on machine selection)
- Useful when comparing multiple mills on a single curve.
D. Highlight & Label
- Applies both:
- Highlight color
- Vertical labeling
- Best for visually tracking key mills across charts.
4. Select Mills Directly from the Data Table
You can also highlight or label mills from the Data tab:
- Check the box next to the mill(s) you want to highlight or label.
- Choose the desired action.
- Return to the Graph tab to adjust label placement as needed.
This method applies horizontal labeling on the bar chart, and the label positions can be manually dragged to avoid overlap.
