Which CO2 emissions have been taken into account?

Direct fossil CO2 emissions are calculated from the simulated energy and fuel consumption estimates with default conversion factors. Scope 1 are direct fossil CO2 emissions for fuels burned at the mill.

Fastmarkets RISI also estimates direct biofuel usage, which would enable our users to estimate manually calculate biogenic CO2 estimates by multiplying the various biofuel consumptions with applicable conversion factors available, for example, at https://stat.fi/tup/khkinv/khkaasut_polttoaineluokitus.html. However, Fastmarkts will make estimates for biogenic CO2 (primarily from black liquor and bark) available during 2026,

As we also estimate purchased steam and electricity usage, it enables Fastmarkets RISI to estimate Scope 2 indirect fossil emissions too.

Fastmarkets is not yet providing Scope 3 fossil CO2 emissions, which are emissions for the production of all non-energy related raw materials and deliveries, (non-integrated fiber, chemicals, various other materials and equipment, etc.), but is planning to do so end-2026 or in 2027,
